"Big thumbs down" - Tottenham fans give mixed reaction to Stambouli departure

PSG

Benjamin Stambouli has left Tottenham Hotspur for Paris Saint-Germain.

As seen above, French champions Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of Tottenham midfielder Benjamin Stambouli on a five-year contract.

Stambouli, 24, departs White Hart Lane just one year after joining from Montpellier, and returns to France after limited first team opportunities under Mauricio Pochettino.

The defensive midfielder featured just 12 times in the Premier League last season, and despite also selling Paulinho and Etienne Capoue to Guangzhou Evergrande and Watford respectively, Stambouli is also making his exit.

A deal was completed earlier today, with Stambouli set to compete with the likes of Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi for a place in Laurent Blanc's midfield at the Parc des Princes.

Tottenham fans have been reacting to the deal throughout the day, with many suggesting that the midfielder didn't get enough of a chance to impress at White Hart Lane.

Some believe that Tottenham will live to regret their decision to let Stambouli leave the club, with one fan even comparing the situation to Manchester United allowing Paul Pogba to leave for Juventus in 2012.

Others weren't quite so worried about the sale, suggesting that Stambouli was too slow for the Premier League - and that manager Pochettino didn't even want Stambouli in the first place.

Here are some of the reactions from Spurs fans to Stambouli's move to Paris Saint-Germain...
