Tottenham striker Shaq Coulthirst has used social media for a light hearted post about the hard work the club are putting the players through.
Tottenham Hotspur prospect Shaq Coulthirst is enjoying being a part of the first team's pre-season preparations, but admits it is hard work.
He posted the above photo on his Instagram page after Monday's sessions, with the comment: "After Today's Running..."
He is unlikely to be the only one feeling similarly tired, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino famed for his intense training sessions and pre-season preparations.
The hard work showed to reap rewards however even in the Argentine's debut campaign as Spurs boss, with players attributing the extra running put in over the summer to their success in the Premier League, especially their knack of scoring late goals as their fitness helped them outlast the opposition.
Star man Christian Eriksen told The Guardian last year: "You see the last few games and we’re still 100% ready to go at the end of the game. Before we wouldn’t have been fit enough to go the whole game."
Harry Kane told The Standard that he felt the preparation was key to his success: "The manager got us really fit, got us ready, kept everyone on their toes and playing for a place. That helped us and you’re starting to see the results now."
The extra fitness worked for Kane, who enjoyed a terrific breakthrough season. Coulthirst is aiming to step into a void of quality alternatives to his teammate and making a surprise impact this coming campaign.
He appears to be pushing himself to the limit to make an impression on Pochettino, and the tough sessions could be just what he needs to mould himself into a player ready to take the step up to Premier League level.
