Highly coveted striker Patrick Bamford is to clinch a loan move to Crystal Palace, report The Guardian.
The Chelsea youngster underwent a medical at Palace on Monday according to the paper, with the deal set to be announced on Tuesday, in time for him to fly out on the club's pre-season tour.
Bamford spent last season on loan with Championship side Middlesbrough, who lost out at Wembley in the play-off final to Norwich City.
The striker made a strong impression on Teeside, and Middlesbrough had been keen to see him return.
Chelsea on the other hand have been pushing Bamford, seeing his success in the Championship, they want to test him at Premier League level.
Crystal Palace are a club moving in the right direction, impressing after Alan Pardew took over as manager last season, and have their eyes set on a top 10 finish, rather than the goal a year ago of simply avoiding relegation.
Bamford netted 17 goals in 40 Championship appearances for Middlesbrough last season, leaving the club with a major void to fill.
At least now they can move on to alternatives, but finding a striker able to do what he did will not be all that easy.
Here is a look at how fans of the club reacted to missing out to Crystal Palace...
Bamford will be available for loan again in January imo, hope he succeeds but can't see him starting in the prem... #Boro— Andrew (@wheatmann5477) July 20, 2015
#Boro still have plenty of work to do in transfer market. Lowest scorers in the top 8 last season WITH Bamford. That's a lot to make up.— Jonathon Taylor (@JonathonTaylor1) July 20, 2015
