Liverpool transfer round-up: Benteke undergoes medical, Roberts turns down Anfield move

All the latest summer transfer news from Anfield...

According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has undergone a medical with Liverpool today ahead of his big money move.

The Reds have met Benteke's £32.5m release clause, with the Belgian striker set to arrive as Liverpool's biggest goal threat having sold Raheem Sterling to Manchester City last week.

A giant target man with great strength and aerial ability, Liverpool may need to adapt their style of play in order to get the best out of Benteke - but they are getting a proven Premier League goalscorer.

Whilst Benteke is on his way in, one player has seemingly snubbed a move to Anfield, with the Daily Mail reporting that new Manchester City signing Patrick Roberts rejected the Reds.

Roberts, 18, comes from a family of Liverpool fans according to the report, but chose to reject Brendan Rodgers' men in favour of becoming the latest English player to join City.

There is also speculation surrounding a potential departure from Anfield, with Italian website La Lazio Siamo Noi suggesting that Lazio are hoping to sign Mamadou Sakho.

The French centre back hasn't quite lived up to expectations since his 2013 move from Paris Saint-Germain, but a deal would be unlikely considering Liverpool's lack of top quality options at centre back.
