While Liverpool push on with their summer transfers, Mario Balotelli's future is less clear.
The Italian international is not currently on tour with the club, reported to be a selection decision by the Liverpool Echo.
He had returned to training prior to the club flying out, having missed the opening to pre-season due to the death of his adoptive father.
The striker sent a message on Twitter late on Sunday night, suggesting he is unsure how to feel.
Good night everybody.. Smile, or not?!— Mario Balotelli (@FinallyMario) July 19, 2015
With Mario Balotelli, a message like that could be connected to anything, but it should not be forgotten that his place in the squad is coming under more immediate pressure.
Liverpool are poised to complete the signing of Christian Benteke to Aston Villa, report The Mirror, with the Belgian set to undergo a medical on Monday.
The reaction to Balotelli's tweet displayed the dividing opinions the striker generates on Merseyside, with many feeling he could still flourish at the club. Here is a look at the mixed reaction...
