The Celtic player is ready to have an impact this week if he is called upon.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been speaking to the club’s official website following his hat-trick heroics against SD Eibar on Saturday.

The Bhoys ran out comfortable 4-1 winners against the Spanish side with Griffiths scoring three and defender Efe Ambrose netting the other, but there are much more important games to come, with the second leg of the Champions League qualifying tie against Stjarnan just around the corner.

Celtic lead 2-0 from the first leg and travel to Iceland this week for Wednesday’s decisive second match, and Griffiths may well be called on to add to his impressive goal tally.

“I got 90 minutes so I’m feeling sharp but it’s a different kettle of fish on Wednesday night with the Champions League,” Griffiths told celticfc.net.

“Whatever team the manager goes with we need to put in the performance, get the win and make sure we get into the next round.”

Manager Ronny Deila enjoyed a wonderful debut campaign at Celtic Park but he will be all too aware of the importance of reaching the group stages of Europe’s elite competition this time round.

If he can guide his side that far it would mean more than just plaudits and financial rewards; Celtic could also potentially attract some players to the club that they would otherwise miss out on.

But whatever happens in the weeks and months ahead, Griffiths will be integral.
