The defender is more than pleased with the signings of Dimitri Payet and Angelo Ogbonna in particular.
New boss Slaven Bilic has been busy so far this summer, having added several new faces to his side ahead of next season, with Dimitri Payet, Angelo Ogbonna and Pedro Obiang the biggest among them.
They do not look to have finished their business yet though, and Collins has praised the newcomers and the competition they have added while also saying the chairmen and the club deserve recognition for their efforts.
"The squad is looking good and strong and I'm not sure our business is done yet,” he told whufc.com.
“The signings we have made have been superb. It's going to be tough to get a starting place but that's what it's all about being at West Ham, which is a big club, fair play to the club and to the Chairmen.”
Payet a world-class player
The Welshman had the opportunity to play alongside new recruits Angelo Ogbonna and Dimitri Payet in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Southend United and was impressed by what he saw.
Payet in particular managed to dazzle in his first start for the club as he scored two goals, one a fantastic free-kick, while his cross later on forced defender Luke Prosser into the own goal that won his side the game.
And Collins says it is clear to everyone that they have a world-class player on their hands while he was also impressed with Ogbonna.
"We've seen Dimitri in training since he came in and he's obviously a world-class player," he added.
“At the back, Angelo communicates well, is a quick, strong defender and is a good addition to the squad. He is big boy, but he is quick with it, which obviously helps as well.”
