Villa not only lost midfielder Fabian Delph to Manchester City last week, but now must face up to the departure of striker Christian Benteke too.
BBC Sport suggest that Benteke underwent a medical with Liverpool today ahead of a £32.5m move to Anfield, leaving Villa with a number of holes to fill - and plenty of money to solve their problems with.
Manager Tim Sherwood will be looking to splash the cash on new recruits, and his former mentor Redknapp has suggested a number of potential targets.
Redknapp suggested that ex-Spurs boss Sherwood could look to reunite with Andros Townsend, Emmanuel Adebayor and Tom Carroll this summer, noting to Kicca that Sherwood may try to swoop for some of his former Tottenham players.
"With both Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph gone Tim Sherwood has a lot of money to spend but it’s fair to say he’s got a hard job," said Redknapp.
Will he go and raid his old club Spurs? I think he might, he could go for players like Andros Townsend and [Emmanuel] Adebayor. I know he likes Tom Carroll, he’s a good young player and Tim is a fan of his," he added.
Which player is most likely to join Villa?
Townsend may have endured a hot and cold season last term, but a move to Villa looks unlikely for winger who appears to still have a long-term future at White Hart Lane.
Striker Adebayor flourished under Sherwood at the end of the 2013/14 season, and he could be a proven replacement for Benteke - though his wages pose a stumbling block for Villa.
The most likely player to make the move to Villa is Carroll, who may struggle for a first team place under Mauricio Pochettino next season. A talented passer of the ball, Carroll could be a direct replacement for Delph in the Villa midfield, reuniting with Sherwood in the process.
