Fenerbahce reportedly want to sign Tottenham's Aaron Lennon

Could the Tottenham Hotspur winger be on his way to Turkey this summer?

According to a report from the Sun Fenerbahce are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon this summer.

The Turkish side have impressed with their transfer business thus far, signing Manchester United duo Nani and Robin van Persie, but it is being suggested that they have not yet ended their interest in English-based talent.

Lennon has played 364 games for Tottenham, scoring 30 goals and providing 77 assists in the process, but he has fallen down the pecking order in recent times and spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton.

The 28-year-old excelled at Goodison Park and there is little doubt that Everton fans would love to see him back there if possible, but according to the Sun it is Fenerbahce who could make their move.

Given Andros Townsend’s disappointing form at White Hart Lane it is somewhat surprising that Lennon was allowed to leave temporarily last season, but if Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino sees no future for him at the club it could well go down to the highest bidder.

Fenerbahce have already shown they have the financial clout to compete with the best of them, not just in transfer fees but perhaps more importantly in the wages they are prepared to pay their star-names.

So could we soon be seeing Lennon and Nani bursting down the wings, supplying balls for van Persie?

It is certainly an intriguing prospect, but one that may still be a little way off, yet given that according to recent research Lennon is the club's fastest player and the fourth speediest in the world with the ball at his feet, Fenerbache could ultimately benefit significantly from any move.
