Could Arsenal bring the versatile defender to North London this summer?
Kolasinac has played 57 times for the Bundesliga club having previously come through their youth ranks.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international missed the vast majority of last season due to a cruciate ligament injury but he returned to play in five of the club’s last seven league matches.
With two years left on his current deal, it is an interesting time for the player, given that Schalke will be aware of the need to cash-in quickly if they want to maximise his value; and while right-back is overloaded at Arsenal the same cannot be said of the opposite flank.
TMW claims that Kolasinac could move to Italy this summer with some Serie A clubs interested but that Arsenal are monitoring him as they search for a new left-back.
Considering his age and his talent Kolasinac would be a good addition to Arsenal’s squad, but the great and the good of Italy may have something to say about that.
Currently Arsenal have Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal on their books but Kolasinac’s versatility – he can also play at centre-back or as a defensive midfielder – marks him out as one to watch.
