According to a report in The Sun, Aston Villa have made contact over Club Brugge striker Obbi Oulare regarding the possibility of a £7million deal.
The West Midlands outfit are all but set to lose star striker Christian Benteke to Liverpool after the Reds activated his £32.5 million release clause, as reported by the BBC among many others.
Should the Belgian international opt for Anfield, he will leave a huge void to fill at Villa Park and Tim Sherwood has a big job on his hands to find a suitable replacement.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Emmanuel Adebayor has been mooted as a possibility, as per The Sun, though a surprise alternative could come in the way of another Belgian, Club Brugge’s Obbi Oulare.
"Aston Villa spies in Bruges have been watching the 6ft 5in 19-year-old and contact has been made about a possible £7million deal. Sherwood is keen on Emmanuel Adebayor, too, whose Spurs side are also eyeing Oulare,” The Sun state.
Who is Obbi Oulare?
The name Oulare is most likely unheard of to most Premier League observers - considering he’s only 19-years-old - and the fact he is widely considered as a top prospect rather than a proven striker.
According to the Daily Mail, in April, Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland were just a few of a number of clubs who reportedly sent scouts to watch him in action in a league encounter.
Standing at 6 feet and 5 inches, Oulare possesses speed, strength, power and nous in front of goal, netting six times and adding a further three assists in 18 Belgian top-flight matches last term.
