Mauricio Pochettino reportedly still considering bringing Javier Hernandez to Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on the Manchester United forward.

According to well-respected Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio Tottenham Hotspur maintain an interest in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican international was linked with Spurs by the Mirror back in May, but since then things have gone quiet and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been linked with a whole host of alternatives.

A weekend report from the Sunday People claimed Tottenham were preparing a £15million bid for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino, and yet Di Marzio suggests they have not given up on Hernandez.

It is not stated if the United striker is an alternative or a primary target, but when you consider his goal-scoring record to date and his likely availability he would be a sensible option for the North London club.

Hernandez has just one year left on his current United contract and having spent last season on loan at Real Madrid it remains to be seen what the future holds for him. But what is clear is his talent in front of goal, as his 59 strikes for United and 40 for Mexico testify.

During what was widely-regarded as a disappointing spell at Madrid he still scored nine goals and provided nine assists – not bad for a super-sub.

Di Marzio claims Pochettino is interested in bringing Hernandez to Tottenham but at the moment it is only an idea and others are also in the market for him.

Perhaps if the club are unable to sign Berahino they will bid for the Mexican sharpshooter. After all, he may feel he has unfinished business in England.
