Lallana raves about Benteke, tips him to become a 'very strong' Liverpool signing

Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert

The Reds midfielder is full of praise for the Aston Villa striker.

Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana feels Aston Vila forward Christian Benteke could provide a 'very strong component' for the Reds should he make the move to Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.

Indeed, Lallana - who is promising bigger things from himself next season - feels Benteke's 'big presence' and proven track record in front of goal will ensure he succeeds on Merseyside.

The 27-year-old is quoted as saying by the Mail: "He is a big presence. He has always scored goals. I think that would be a very strong component for us if he is to arrive."

Divisive figure

Benteke's links with Liverpool have been well documented, with the Reds said to have met the Aston Villa striker's £32.5 million release clause, according to Sky Sports among many, many others.

But opinion, as ever, on the Belgian is very divided indeed.

Aston Villa fans who have grown accustomed to seeing the 24-year-old score for the club on a regular basis can't speak highly enough of the forward. Many Liverpool fans, however, remain unconvinced due to the simple fact that Benteke is a target man, with one his biggest strengths his aerial ability.

A bit like with the signings of Daniel Sturridge or Mario Balotelli, we will simply have to wait and see.
