Gary Lineker has criticised Liverpool's recent recruitment but feels Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will be a good signing for the Anfield outfit.
According to BBC Sport, the 24-year-old is set for a medical at Melwood.
And Match of the Day host Lineker feels Benteke is just what Liverpool need to solve their problems in front of goal.
Liverpool's recruitment hasn't been brilliant of late, but in Christian Benteke they've got a good 'un!— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) July 19, 2015
A matter of fit
Opinion has been divided on Aston Villa's Benteke but it is simply a matter of fit whether he succeeds at Liverpool.
The Belgian can no doubt score a wide range of goals but there is no denying his standout ability being in the air - he won more headers than any other Premier League player last term.
If Brendan Rodgers can finally adapt his tactics, then, or complement Benteke with a winger, there is every chance he can offer Liverpool something. But history suggests otherwise - and we could be seeing another Mario Balotelli.
That wouldn't mean Benteke is a bad player. It would simply mean the Reds haven't thought their transfer policy through again. Supporters will no doubt hope otherwise.
