The Liverpool manager also highlights why this squad is exciting him ahead of the new season.
The Brazilian was secured in a big money move from Hoffenheim last month and the signing has been met with huge optimism by fans at Anfield.
He is so far their biggest summer recruit so there is a lot of expectation upon his shoulders to impress, but Rodgers is confident he will be a success as he has an abundance of the qualities all South American players possess.
“Not only do they fight, not only do they want to win, not only are they professional in their work, they've got all the ability to match that,” he told lfctour.com.
"He [Firmino] has that in abundance; he has the quality, the desire to score goals, but very importantly he has the will and the heart to fight for the team and that's important."
Excited by a squad full of goals
The manager is also confident he has added goals to his side, as it is an area they were noticeably lacking in last season.
He has already signed Danny Ings after his impressive first season in the Premier League with Burnley, while Roberto Firmino has been brought in after enjoying a decent goal scoring record with previous club Hoffenheim.
And Rodgers says adding players who can threaten the goal to make the overall squad more dangerous to opponents is something that has really excited him ahead of the new season.
“Last year we didn't score enough goals,” he added.
"But this is a new team; the ideas and philosophies are the same but we're bringing in players that can really threaten the goal again and have a group of those. That's something that's exciting me.”
