Brendan Rodgers not ruling out further business for Liverpool

The boss is also adamant that his side have firmly closed the door on last season after a disappointing campaign.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has told the club’s official website he is not ruling out further signings arriving at Anfield this summer.

The Reds have been the busiest of the Premier League sides in this transfer window, with Danny Ings, James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne all signing.

They are also reportedly close to signing Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke, according to Sky Sports, as they look to overhaul their squad ahead of the new season.

And Rodgers has refused to rule out further signings but says he is happy with the players they have brought in.

"We might have some more business but currently as we sit I'm pleased with the players that we've brought in," he told lfctour.com.

"There's been a lot of change, which brings that freshness to the group again and I just can sense early on a real feeling and ambition in the group to do well. We really want to make a push this year and hopefully have a great season."

Door closed on last season

The manager is also insistent that he and the squad have firmly put last season in the back of their minds.

It was a hugely disappointing campaign for Rodgers’ side as a poor start to the year saw their fine second half form fail to help them reach the Champions League places again and finish in sixth place.

That Champions League campaign was also a disappointment as they failed to qualify for the latter stages. It’s all in the past though, and the manager is insistent they can have another good season.

"I think this can be another good season for us after a difficult season last year, there's no doubt about that,” he added.

"We entered into a Champions League season and cup competitions and though we went close in a couple of them, we just fell short. But we've shut the door on that and really moved on.”
