The 21-year-old has been left out of Leeds' tour of Austria - and could subsequently have missed out on a contract with the club.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Adam Drury has been left out of Leeds United's pre-season tour of Austria, with the youngster also confirming on Twitter that he will be staying home to spend time with his family.
The YEP subsequently report that that rules out Drury's chances of earning a contract with the Whites after his trial period at Elland Road.
During his time with Leeds, boss Uwer Rosler described the winger as having shown 'promising signs' - but it appears the youngster will not be offered a deal with the Yorkshire club. That comes despite Leeds being in real need of a wide man.
Naturally, many Leeds fans are disappointed and, primarily, puzzled by the news. Drury impressed many with his friendly showing against York City - and plenty of supporters have expressed their surprise at the news on Twitter...
Find it strange how we didn't sign Drury even on a short-term contract, looked very lively mid-week v York #lufc— LifeOfLeeds (@LeedsNuts) July 18, 2015
Makes sense that a lad like Drury would play a blinder then not get taken on ... Not enough serie B rejects brought in yet #lufc— Daniel Robinson (@DRobinson92) July 18, 2015
I don't get it? Why not sign Drury? Why are we suddenly turning down some of the top class young talents? #lufc— That Guy Bolasie (@ohhmiijosh_) July 18, 2015
I really liked seeing Drury in a Leeds shirt, and what I saw impressed me. Good look, lad #lufc— Kay FC. (@kaydobbo) July 18, 2015
The flip-side, however, is that Leeds have said no to the 21-year-old in the hope of signing a different - better - winger.
And there are those on social media who are pleased the Whites are not offering young Drury a contract with exactly that sentiment in mind:
