Celtic continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 victory against SD Eibar, with Bhoys forward Leigh Griffiths netting a hat-trick.
The Spanish side were celebrating their 75th anniversary but Celtic were in no mood to gift their hosts a victory, with Ronny Deila’s side running out comfortable winners.
Griffiths later took to Twitter to send a message to his followers, along with a picture of him holding the match ball.
“Delighted to get this,” Griffiths wrote. “Also happy I stuck the penalty away also 90 minutes in the tank; we go again on Wednesday.”
Celtic defender Efe Ambrose put his side ahead before Griffiths doubled the lead from the penalty spot.
Eibar then pulled one back through Mikel Arruabarrena before Griffiths snatched two more, along with the plaudits and ultimately the ball.
The Celtic striker scored 24 goals in 41 appearances last season and he will be vital again this season as the Bhoys look to replicate their double success as well as reach the group stages of the Champions League.
There is a lot of work still to do before that is achieved, but Celtic have started the season as they mean to go on and Griffiths’ three goals this weekend will also give him the confidence to get more in the weeks and months ahead.
