Brandon Barker's summer showings could mean Leeds find it much harder to sign him on loan

The young Manchester City winger has been linked with a Leeds United loan but he has shone so far this summer, raising questions about his future.

As reported by HITC earlier this month, Leeds United are interested in bringing Manchester City winger Brandon Barker in on loan next season. But that particular pursuit may have just got considerably tougher considering how well the 18-year-old has performed on the Blues’ pre-season tour.

Barker came off the bench in last week’s match against Adelaide United to score a blinder and help City to a 2-0 victory.

That performance earned him a start in the next game against Melbourne City and while he did not get on the score-sheet this time, he went close on a few occasions with shots that showed both his talent and his confidence.

Leeds are believed to have been tracking Barker for a while but they have now seen the teenage winger put in two confident displays already this summer, meaning that if he does head out on loan plenty more clubs are likely to be interested.

There is no doubt Leeds need a new winger, with the left side arguably the one area of the pitch manager Uwe Rosler still needs to strengthen before the Championship campaign kicks off next month.

Barker may be young but he would be an instant hit at Elland Road. But such is his talent that you could say that about a number of clubs and as much as his summer performances have justified Leeds’ interest they are not going to have made the Whites pursuit of him any easier.
