Gunners fans were delighted that the Spanish star was rewarded with a new contract after his impressive form last season.
The 20-year-old had a superb breakout campaign at the Emirates last season, stepping into the side after a series of injuries to Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers, and playing a starring role in the Gunners' impressive league form and FA Cup win.

Having made just one appearance for Arsene Wenger's side prior to the game against Borussia Dortmund in September, the Spanish Under-21 defender would go on to play an impressive 28 games for the club by the end of the season, also scoring twice.
Bellerin joined Arsenal as a Barcelona youth in 2011, and now looks to be the most significant player to make that move since Cesc Fabregas.
His commitment to the club makes the right back position incredibly strong at the Gunners, with Chambers, Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson, who also signed a new deal this week before heading out to West Ham on loan, all quality players. This wasn't lost on some fans, who were disappointed last summer when first choice full back Bacary Sagna left for Manchester City.
No details were provided of the length of the contract, only that it was long term, but that was enough for the Arsenal fans, who understandably took to Twitter to express their delight at securing the future of such an outstanding young player.
