HITC Sport understands from sources close to the potential deal that Fleetwood Town are hoping to sign Aston Villa youngster Riccardo Calder on loan.
The 19-year-old is highly-regarded at Villa after coming through the ranks and is tipped to become a first-team regular in the future.
Calder is yet to make his debut for Villa, but he is on the fringes of the first-team and he has been named on the substitutes' bench on several occasions.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood has shown during his short time in charge at Villa Park that he is not afraid to give youth a chance, but he could decide to loan out Calder so that he can get regular first-team action under his belt and gain valuable experience.
Calder, who was a part of the 2013 Villa team that won the NextGen series, is currently away with the senior side at their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in England Under-17 international Calder, but Fleetwood are hoping to lure the player to Highbury.
Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander feels Calder would be a valuable addition to his plans for next season as he can play as a left winger and left-back.
