Report: Tottenham and Roma chiefs meet in London, three deals potentially discussed

Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose and Ben Davies have been cited as subjects of potential transfer talks on Friday.

As per a report by Sky Sports Italia, Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Franco Baldini and Roma counterpart Walter Sabatini met in London, with three deals potentially discussed.

The Serie A giants have been busy trying to bolster their squad this summer, with Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah the latest to be linked to the club, as claimed by Chiesa Di Totti.

Sky Sports Italia state Walter Sabatini’s trip to London is primarily to agree a deal for the Blues’ Egyptian winger, yet the sporting director has used the opportunity to arrange a meeting with Baldini.

While this could be merely a friendly dinner between two old friends, the reports in Italy suggest transfers to be the main subject of their conversation, with the following three names likely to be heavily involved.

Danny Rose:

Roma’s bid for a new left-back brings Rose into the equation, the Spurs ace demonstrating his huge improvements last season as he featured in 28 Premier League matches.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino rated him as the best English left-back ahead of the March international break, and it’s extremely unlikely that Spurs would consider selling him unless silly money was offered.

Ben Davies:

Again, the Italian giants’ necessity to find a suitable replacement for the aging Jose Holebas and Ashley Cole sees former Swansea City man Ben Davies a potential target.

The 22-year-old Welshman only moved to White Hart Lane last summer, but with just nine league starts to his name, he was a back-up more often than not and could be deemed surplus to requirements.

Mattia Destro:

The last name mentioned was Roma’s attacking midfielder Mattia Destro, a player who was linked with a White Hart Lane switch last summer, as per a report in the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, and his failure to really progress in Italy could lead to a summer switch - And why not to a Premier League side?
