Celtic manager Ronny Deila has stressed the importance of the club having Charlie Mulgrew fit and available, with comments reported in the Glasgow Evening Times.
The experienced Celtic player is looking to get back to his very best and Deila has also explained that he feels Mulgrew can have a positive impact in the Bhoys dressing room over the next few months.
“It is like having a new player again, having Charlie back. He is so important for us. It is not just his experience and ability, but he is a big player for us to have in the dressing room,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.
“He was out for so long and now that he is back and fully fit we know we can rely on him. He can also play in different positions which is important.”
Mulgrew as a player
Mulgrew creates a number of benefits for Deila as a player, with his versatility as the boss suggests, arguably the most important.
Any player who can give his manager a positive option in a key area of the team is worth his weight in gold, all the more so when he can cover a variety of different positions.
It’s also significant from the point of view of the player because it means he’s got a higher number of ways to get into the team.
Mulgrew as a leader
Mulgrew’s experience and influence in the dressing room will also help to take some of the pressure away from Ronny Deila and other key players like Scott Brown.
He’s a good player to have helping the youngsters in terms of developing them or keeping them motivated during difficult periods of a very long season.
