Rob Lee has stated how Newcastle should go about their transfer business.
Former Newcastle midfielder Rob Lee has expressed on his Kicca account how Newcastle should go about their transfer business - starting with the signing of Charlie Austin.
He said: “[Charlie] Austin is British and he has shown he can score in the Premier League. That is just the kind of player the club needs. Austin would be the second signing within a week - I just hope there are three or more players on the horizon.
“My message to the club is simple.....great signings but don’t stop now.”
If a deal to take Austin to St James’ Park goes through, he will be the second signing the Magpies make this summer.
Georginio Wijnaldum has already been bought by the Tyneside club, and that is a signing of real intent, and if Austin follows it will show that the club are addressing their main weaknesses this summer.
With Wijnadlum and Austin at the club, they can start looking at other areas to strengthen, and the defensive positions are the next step on their path to possessing a strong team.
Neither Fabricio Coloccini nor Mike Williamson are good enough to be starting every week for a Premier League team, and signing two central defenders should be Steve McClaren’s next priority.
Anderlecht star Chancel Mbemba has already been linked to the Magpies, as per the Chronicle, and that is a step in the right direction.
Lee will be pleased with the signing of Wijnaldum, and is looking forward to Austin arriving at the club, but he wants to see the transfer business continue far into the summer.
