Ola John has been linked with Crystal Palace and West Ham this summer.
Crystal Palace retain their interest in Ola John, although they are unwilling to match his asking price, according to the Daily Mail.
The Benfica winger, who has also been linked with West Ham - as per VI - has an £8 million valuation on his head, and Palace are reluctant to pay that much.
Initial talks have been held between the Eagles and Benfica, but the South London club have been put off by the valuation, although Alan Pardew does retain his interest in the 23-year-old winger.
John, a Dutch international, has scored nine goals and registered 15 assists in 86 games for Benfica, earning a reputation as a real talent. His development seems to have stalled in recent years, but at his young age he still has plenty of years ahead of him to continue progressing into a top class winger.
He would certainly be a good signing for the club, but the £8 million price does seem high for someone of John’s quality.
There have been no indications as to whether West Ham will be willing to match that asking price, but following the arrival of Dimitri Payet - who plays the same attacking position as John - they will likely focus their interests on a cheaper back-up option.
Palace are set to continue talks with Benfica concerning the transfer of John, as the Portuguese club want to sell him this summer, and the Eagles are sure to make a formal approach if they can lower his asking price from the touted £8 million.
