Aston Villa want to sign the Monaco forward, who was linked with Tottenham earlier this summer.
The Monaco forward, who has been a transfer target of Premier League rivals Tottenham for much of the summer, looked to have put an end to any exit rumours last week.
Sky Sports claimed that Spurs were ready to move for him, but the same media outlet reported that he had agreed a one-year contract extension with the principality club - taking his current deal through to the summer of 2019.
Whilst this deterred Spurs, Villa have now entered the race for Martial, and are hoping to use the windfall from Benteke’s sale to sign him.
The report states that the £32.5 million fee will be enough to cover Monaco’s asking price for Martial, but the question remains as to whether Villa have the ‘profile’ to draw the foward’s interest.
Martial, 19, started his career with Lyon, before moving to Monaco in 2013. He has played 63 times for the club, scoring 14 goals and registering six assists, and winning 12 caps at Under-21 level for France.
