West Ham signed the duo this summer as part of their mass rebuild.
The Spanish midfielder said: “He is quality. At Juventus he did not have the opportunities he wanted. West Ham, however, is by no means a smaller club: here have great ideas to move forward, the philosophy is positive. And the reality of West Ham is really beautiful.”
These are certainly pleasing comments by Obiang, who looks to have bought into the West Ham philosophy since his move from Sampdoria.
Ogbonna has followed him to England and the Boleyn Ground, and although the centre-back moved to the Hammers from Juventus, Obiang does not believe he has taken a step backwards in his career.
The midfielder believes that the Hammers have got a forward thinking vision, and by signing the likes of Ogbonna, it is likely that the East London club will come closer to fulfilling that vision.
They are in the Europa League this term, with ambitions to go as far as possible in the competition, whilst they also want to start moving upwards in the Premier League, reaching for the European places on a consistent basis.
This promises to be a new era for the Hammers, and it is one that many want to see full of success and silverware. With the likes of Obiang and Ogbonna buying into this vision, and putting their talents to work on the pitch, this success may not be too far away.
