New West Ham signing Pedro Obiang wants Mattia Destro to join him.

New West Ham signing Pedro Obiang has made a cheeky invitation for Mattia Destro to join him at the club.

Obiang was speaking to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb when he was quizzed about the Roma striker.

Ex-Sampdoria star Obiang is keen on Destro coming aboard, and has made his pitch to convince him to sign.

He said: "He would be welcome. He could help us. In fact, you know that I do?".

"I give you the title for my interview: Destro invitation to come and play at West Ham.

"Yes, at West Ham would find a better reality than he imagines."

Obiang went onto talk up new signing Angelo Ogbonna, and describe the project at the Hammers as 'beautiful'.

Could Destro happen?

24-year-old Destro is believed to be available from Roma at the right price. Talksport reported three days ago that the Hammers have contacted sporting director Walter Sabatini over a potential move.

Destro is an Italian international and is currently on tour with Roma for pre-season.

Italian outlet Calciomercato reported 24 hours ago that the player's preference is to remain in Italy, but that withstanging, there is competition for his signature from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, who could have money to spend from a Christian Benteke sale.
