Joey Barton reacts on Twitter to £20m bid for John Stones, makes Sterling comparison

The current free agent expressed his view on the Everton defender and former Liverpool forward.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have had a £20 million bid for Everton defender John Stones rejected.

Joey Barton has some strong views on the offer.

Indeed, the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder is shocked the Everton man's valuation is that low, comparing it to Manchester City's recent big-money signing of Raheem Sterling from Liverpool.

Indeed, Barton sees Stones as a future England captain and can't believe Chelsea are offering as little as £20m for the 21-year-old.

And Sterling's recent move from Liverpool to Manchester City has made the ex-QPR man feel even more strongly about the bid.

Barton went on, even comparing Stones to Manchester City defender Mangala on Twitter.

It is no surprise Everton are said to have rejected the bid, considering what Barton and many others have said about how low the valuation is.

Liverpool and Manchester City certainly haven't done Chelsea any favours in terms of keeping the price of English players down, meanwhile.

Will Stones end up leaving Everton or can the Toffees stand strong in the face of big money from the Premier League champions?
