Reading's Hal Robson-Kanu discusses transfer speculation amid Premier League interest

Reading Madejski 3

The Reading winger has been linked with Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City.

Robson-Kanu is interesting a selection of Premier League clubs, and he has told the Mirror that playing in the top flight is where he wants to be, as soon as possible.

He said: “The Premier League brought out the best in me and I make no qualms in saying it’s where I want to be. It’s always nice to hear clubs are interested in you. Every player wants to experience the best atmospheres and stadiums week-in and week-out.

“I’ve got a year left on my contract, they haven’t offered me a new contract. I’ve been at the club for over ten years, it’s been a fantastic ten years.”

Although not directly addressing whether he wants to leave Reading or not this summer, he has admitted that returning to the Premier League is his main aim.

The same article claims that Swansea have already made two bids to sign the Welsh international this summer, whilst HITC Sport revealed that both West Brom and Aston Villa have been showing an interest in him in recent weeks.

That report states that Reading have placed him up for sale, with a £2.5 million asking price on his head. As he wants to return to the Premier League, the Championship side want to sell him this summer to ensure they make a profit on him, rather than losing him for a free when his contract expires at the end of next season.

The 26-year-old impressed during his only season in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and registering two assists in 25 games. He has certainly shown he has the quality to turn out at the top level, and it would come as no surprise to see the talented winger at a Premier League club before the end of the summer transfer window.
