Ex-Spurs striker Gary Lineker believes Arsenal can challenge title favourites Chelsea for the Premier League trophy - but only on one condition, according to Breathe Sport's official Youtube channel.
Indeed, the BBC presenter feels Arsenal can run the Blues close along with Manchester City if the north London outfit can add to their current squad before the end of the transfer window.
Lineker told Breathe Sport: "Manchester City will run them [Chelsea] close and possibly Arsenal as well. But, again, only if they [Arsenal] bring in one or two players to add to what they've got.
"Chelsea are strong favourites and will take some beating."
Despite his Tottenham routes, Lineker has always spoken relatively highly of Arsenal.
The problem, however, is that the Match of the Day host has said this about the Gunners for several seasons now. Every year, the same thing is said about the north London side by more than just Lineker - and rightly so: that they will challenge for the Premier League title if they make the requisite additions.
Under Arsene Wenger, though, those additions never end up being made.
Petr Cech has solved a real problem for Arsenal, yes. But a goalkeeper can't solve the club's need for a striker and, primarily, a central midfielder.
Let's see if the Gunners make any more signings - and whether they can finally actually challenge properly again. History would suggest a top-four finish will be their limit.
