Liverpool kicked off their two leg tour of Australia with a 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar in Queensland.
After falling behind to a goal form Dimi Petratos early in the first half, the Reds quickly equalised through a fine strike from Adam Lallana. It was the former Southampton captain's second goal in two games, and seemed to indicate that the 27-year-old could have a positive contribution in the new season.
Brendan Rodgers kept some players on well into the second half, with new signing James Milner one of the players asked to help his side find the victory. And the ex Manchester City midfielder obliged as he scored his first goal for the club with a superb run from midfield that looped past the Brisbane goalkeeper with 15 minutes to go.
Milner and young winger Jordon Ibe looked like dangerous players for Rodgers to have at his disposal for the new season, and the Premier League giants will now prepare for a meeting with Adelaide United on July 20 before heading back to Asia.
