West Ham United transfer round-up: Talks to be held with international forward

A selection of the latest news concerning West Ham United.

Gervinho is the centre of West Ham’s attentions now, and Gianluca Di Marzio claim that Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is currently in London to talk to the club about him.

The Ivorian forward, formerly of Arsenal, was close to leaving Roma earlier this summer before a move to Al Jazira collapsed, and the Serie A team are still looking to get him off their books.

It is claimed that the director is overseeing a number of deals whilst in England, with Gervinho being one of them. He is also attempting to sign Edin Dzeko from Manchester City, whilst Watford’s interest in Seydou Doumbia is also to be dealt with.

Stewart Downing has come one step closer to leaving West Ham this summer, as he has spent today taking his medical with Middlesbrough.

Pictured on Teesside by Sky Sports, he is expected to complete a deal by the end of this week, having agreed personal terms with the Championship side, and both clubs reaching an acceptable transfer fee.

Slaven Bilic is keen to see Alex Song back at West Ham, according to the Daily Mail, having admitted that he was impressed by him last term. A deal has yet to be concluded to sign Song permanently, but Bilic may push one through to get the Barcelona man at the Boleyn Ground before the start of the Premier League.
