A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.
Tottenham are 'determined' to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy, according to the Daily Mail, with it reported that Spurs are willing to offer winger Aaron Lennon in part-exchange in order to get their man.
Lennon spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park, seeing regular football under Roberto Martinez, but Tottenham are likely to face fierce resistance from the Toffees boss in their pursuit of his Republic of Ireland international.
Martinez is quoted in the same article as saying: "He’s not for sale. James McCarthy is a top performer. He has shown that over recent years. We know what he brings with young legs and good energy."
A crumb of comfort from the report for Tottenham is the claim that McCarthy is said to be unhappy that a promise of revising the contract he signed when he secured his move from Wigan Athletic in 2013 has not been honoured as of yet.
There is a slight difference in reporting of the fee, with Mail going with £3 million, while the Standard claim the deal will net Spurs £5 million.
The deal could go through within the next 24 hours. This is a transfer that has been expected as the Frenchman has not played a Premier League game since November.
