According to the Liverpool Echo, Leeds United and Burnley are in the hunt for exciting Everton forward Chris Long.
The report states the two Championship clubs are interested in signing the youngster, presumably on loan, following his successful stint at Brentford last season.
The Mail also linked the 20-year-old with a move to Blackburn Rovers earlier this week. However, the Lancashire Telegraph released a statement saying the former Premier League champions weren’t interested.
Would Chris Long be a good signing for either Burnley or Leeds?
Long enjoyed a very positive loan spell at Brentford last season and proved himself to be a competent forward in the Championship.
After Leeds signed Chris Wood from Leicester City earlier in the transfer window, the question quickly emerged as to who would partner the New Zealand international up front next season.
Long, who is a diminutive figure, could be ideal to fill the role of Wood’s partner for next season, as a ‘little and large’ combination could prove to be a success.
For Burnley, who are looking to replace Danny Ings after his move to Liverpool, it would represent a much higher pressure move for the youngster as they look to bounce back to the Premier League at the earliest opportunity.
Any striker Sean Dyche brings into the club as Ings’ replacement will have big boots to fill, and the 20-year-old could do well to avoid that situation.
