Taylor was linked earlier this month with a move for the free agent, reported by The Nottingham Post, claiming the club have made contact with the defender.
The 30-year-old was released by Newcastle this summer and remains unattached.
Over the past 24 hours he has acknowledged interest from Nottingham Forest fans who have expressed their desire to see him line up for the club next season.
Taylor favourited two tweets from Nottingham Forest supporters, reaching out to him with positive messages.
Taylor's actions do little to dampen speculation, as he aims to find a new club.
The Nottingham Post reported last week that a financial embargo on Forest limiting the wages they can offer players is the key hurdle in the deal, but Taylor must clearly be encouraged by the desire of fans to see him play for the club.
Taylor is a former England under-21 international who can also play in midfield, and made more than 100 appearances for Newcastle.
