PSG fans make it clear that their club should stay away from Benjamin Stambouli

The Tottenham midfielder is set to complete a transfer to PSG in the coming days.

Stambouli looks to be on the verge of a move to PSG, but fans of the Ligue 1 club have made it clear they do not want the midfielder at their club.

A poll ran by France Football asked fans to vote on whether they want to see PSG sign Stambouli, and 70% of fans have claimed that it would be a bad move for the club.

And it is quite easy to see how such an opinion has been reached.

Stambouli looks set to sign for the club as a replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who recently signed for Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old was highly rated during his time with Montpellier in his homeland, being named vice captain of the club and earning a reputation as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.

However, his time in England has been much less successful. His one season brought just 25 games, with Stambouli restricted to League Cup and Europa League games, rather than important Premier League fixtures.

He would be returning to France, and signing for the current champions and biggest club in the country, as nothing but a substitute. First-team chances would be limited, and Stambouli would know that he is only being used to provide cover.

The only redeeming factor for PSG is his homegrown status, which is vital in the Champions League.

But then, that does not seem worth paying the mooted £6 million price tag for, as per the Standard.

The PSG fans seem to be spot on about this one.
