Leeds United’s preparations for the new season are in full swing with the start of the Championship season now just over three weeks away.
Uwe Rosler has made some good early strides in terms of improving his team ahead of the new league campaign, improving a number of key areas around the side to give himself better options over the next ten to eleven months.
Friendly games have to be taken with a pinch of salt because they’re less about the result and more about the work the players are doing in terms of their fitness
Leeds ground out a 1-1 draw in their latest friendly game against York City, with Sam Byram grabbing he only goal of the game for the away side, showing that he’s not lost any of his tough in the opponent’s half, looking back to his attacking role last season.
Rosler will be eager to create positive momentum heading into the new season, because his job will be easier of Leeds United’s key players are feeling positive and full of energy, as the club look to improve on a position of 15th under old manager Neil Redfearn.
Byram will definitely be part of the jigsaw if Leeds are going to develop and improve and it will be interesting to see how Rosler uses him in terms of his position and role in the side; does he move him back to full-back or leave him in a wide midfield role where he has already been very effective?
Leeds now step up the quality in terms of their pre-season opponents with a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt this Tuesday, before a game against experienced German side Hoffenheim the weekend after next.
Here’s what Leeds fans had to say and the impressions they got about Byram’s performance last night.
