HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Blackburn Rovers ace Ben Marshall is a top target for Brighton.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton is keen to bring in a winger this summer as he looks to add to his attacking options at the Amex Stadium.
Hughton had been looking at Sheffield United's Jamie Murphy, as revealed by HITC Sport, but he has now switched his attention to Marshall.
Marshall is regarded as one of the best wide men in the Championship after impressing for Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers after leaving Stoke City.
Marshall started his career at Manchester United, but joined Crewe Alexandra after failing to make the breakthrough at Old Trafford.
It is understood that Sheffield Wednesday are also interested in signing Marshall this summer, with the player still a fans' favourite at Hillsborough following a successful loan spell during the 2011/12 campaign.
Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer is reluctant to part with Marshall having lost 12 players over the summer, and he is battling to keep the player at Ewood Park.
However, Brighton are ready to test Blackburn's resolve to hang on to Marshall, with the Ewood Park outfit still operating under a transfer embargo for breaking financial fair play rules.
