Tottenham round-up: Extra transfer funds, Stambouli to PSG, Walker on season ahead

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Tottenham have £11 million more available for transfers than initially expected, according to the London Evening Standard, after they sold the site of Brook House primary school.

They could see their transfer kitty swelled even more in the coming days as the Standard also reports that midfielder Benjamin Stambouli is on the brink of a move to Paris Saint Germain.

Stambouli has reportedly pulled out of a move to Premier League new boys Watford after a £5.5 million offer was accepted by Spurs, with PSG having come in with a higher offer of £6 million.

The Frenchman is said to have been targeted as a replacement for Yohan Cabeye, who joined Crystal Palace earlier this summer.

Away from transfers, right-back Kyle Walker has told the official Tottenham website that he is approaching what is possibly the biggest season of his career.

Walker has said that he needs a consistent season after suffering from injuries in the past couple of years, which have meant that he hasn't had the kind of game time that he wanted or expected.

He said: “Hopefully this will be the season I get back up there and show the lads here and everyone at Tottenham Hotspur what I can do again.

“It’s not been the easiest with the injuries but that’s all behind me now and I’m looking forward.

“I know I have to hit the ground running, I’m working hard and fingers-crossed this will be the season everything falls back into place again.”

The Daily Mail has picked up on an Instagram message from forward Harry Kane, who has been given extra time off because of his involvement in England's European under-21 Championship game.

Last season's top scorer, who enjoyed an incredible season, has said that he is looking forward to getting 'back to business'.
