Stoke City fans react on Twitter to Jakob Haugaard's debut

The new Stoke City goalkeeper made his first appearance for the side on Wednesday against Everton so what did Potters fans think of his performance?

When Stoke City signed Danish goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard it looked like he would be third-choice stopper at best. After all, even with Asmir Begovic gone that still leaves Jack Butland and Shay Given on the books.

But after the 23-year-old’s performance against Everton in the Asia Trophy on Wednesday, Mark Hughes may have another selection problem to unravel.

Haugaard was brilliant for Stoke against their Premier League opponents and if he was a bit better when it came to saving penalty kicks he could have proved to be the hero.

Ultimately Stoke lost 5-4 on penalties but Haugaard kept a clean-sheet in normal-time and looked like far more than just a reserve team ‘keeper.

He may have only featured 37 times for his former club FC Midtjylland, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process, but he looks like having a very bright future at the Britannia Stadium.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Stoke fans thought of Haugaard’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
