Newcastle are reportedly pushing striker Aleksandar Mitrovic for a decision over his proposed transfer.
According to The Sun, Newcastle have given striker Aleksandar Mitrovic a deadline over his move to Tyneside - they want an answer inside 48 hours.
The Magpies tied up their first summer signing last weekend, bringing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to St. James' Park in a huge deal.
Now, manager Steve McClaren needs to push for more new additions, with a centre forward top of his transfer wishlist ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Chronicle reported that Anderlecht star Mitrovic is Newcastle's top striker target, and that McClaren is hopeful of securing a deal.
However, the move appears to be stalling, with The Mirror suggesting that Mitrovic instead wants to sign for a team who can offer European football - and Magpies fans may be growing even more concerned now.
A report from The Sun states that Newcastle are growing impatient with the Serbian hitman, and have now set the 20-year-old a 48-hour deadline to decide his future.
What would Mitrovic offer Newcastle?
Mitrovic, 20, has a superb record with Anderlecht, smashing 44 goals in 90 games over in Belgium, establishing himself as one of the top young strikers in Europe in the process.
He is a big, strong, target man who can bully defenders with his back to goal as well as in the air, something Newcastle need to add considering their lack of real options up front.
Given his age, Mitrovic still has room to grow, and his style is perfectly suited to the Premier League. Newcastle just have to convince him to make the move to St. James' Park now - which is proving a little tougher than first imagined.
