QPR see bid for Dutch playmaker Tjaronn Chery knocked back; favours Premier League move

HITC Sport understands that Queens Park Rangers have seen an offer for the Groningen midfielder, who has also been linked with Aston Villa, rebuffed.

Queens Park Rangers have had an offer for Dutch ace Tjaronn Chery rejected by FC Groningen, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the approach.

Chery enjoyed a brilliant campaign with the Eredivisie side in 2014/15, ending the year as one of the top-scorers in Holland with 15 goals.

It was his second season with Groningen after joining on-loan from Den Haag the year before, when he again reached double figures.

He has already been strongly linked with a move to England, with Aston Villa holding talks about him – as reported by talkSPORT - but they could not strike a deal.

However, QPR tried to make a quick move to land Chery, but HITC Sport understands their approach was rejected by the Dutch club.

27-year-old Chery is understood to be very keen on making the move to England, but has his sights set on a move to the Premier League rather than the Championship - although QPR could return with an improved bid.

Lazio, Galatasaray, Udinese and Werder Bremen have also been linked to Chery, along with clubs from the Middle East and Far East, with Al-Ahli very keen.
