Newcastle part of Premier League quartet targeting Sporting's strike star Islam Slimani

Sporting Lisbon

HITC Sport understands that Crystal Palace, Leicester and West Brom are also keen on a man who has drawn interest from Tottenham in the past.

Sporting Lisbon star Islam Slimani is being targeted by a number of Premier League clubs, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential approach from England.

Slimani, one of the stars of last year's World Cup finals with Algeria, was one of the top-scorers in Portugal last season as Sporting managed to keep hold of him - despite a wealth of interest.

Now the English suitors are readying moves for the highly-rated African marksman, as he has expressed an interest to make a switch.

HITC Sport understands that Crystal Palace, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United have all made enquiries about the Algerian, and Sporting are now expecting firm offers to come in.

Tottenham Hotspur have been previously linked with a move for Slimani, as reported by the Daily Star, who tried to force a move from Sporting last summer following his success in Brazil but they insisted he stayed to form a potent forward force with Nani - but now they are ready to let him leave, as long as their asking price of nearly £10million is met.
