A player said to be attracting interest from Leeds United scored a cracker while on pre-season duty.
As reported by HITC earlier this summer, Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in signing Manchester City winger Brandon Barker on loan next season. And now the 18-year-old has shown exactly what he is capable of by scoring his first goal for the Blues’ senior side.
The winger netted in a 2-0 pre-season victory against Adelaide United on Wednesday morning, opening the scoring with just over an hour played.
Barker may have only played the second half but he stole the show with a sublime goal, cutting in from the left and smashing the ball into the far corner.
It is because of moments like this that Barker has such a following and why clubs like Leeds are so keen to bring him in on loan.
Barker is one of City’s brightest prospects, so a permanent move away from the Etihad Stadium is not an option at this stage of his career. But having shone for the EDS side for some time now, a temporary move would make sense.
Leeds have done solid business in the transfer window to date, but a new winger is now likely to be high on manager Uwe Rosler’s agenda and Barker certainly fits the bill.
With three goals in five England under-19 appearances, and six goals and four assists for City’s under-21s, the teenager is hot property, and having added another fine goal to his tally earlier today what chance Leeds making their move before someone else does?
