Gary Lineker mocks Raheem Sterling on Twitter after Liverpool sale

Raheem Sterling has completed his transfer to Manchester City.

Raheem Sterling has completed his controversial transfer from Liverpool to Manchester City, as confirmed by the official website of his new side.

Sterling has cost City a potential £49 million, with the total fee dependent on performance related incentives.

After the deal was completed, former England striker and BBC Match of the Day host Gary Lineker took to Twitter to joke at the winger's expense.

Sterling, 20, is at the third club of his career, having begun at QPR, but at City is at a side which have the finances to compete at the top for many seasons to come.

If ambition was his driving motivation to make the transfer, Sterling is at the right club, and there is a clear way for him to put jibes like Lineker's behind him.

Winning trophies will help, but if Sterling stays at City for a decade or even the rest of his career, his Liverpool days will one day seem like a distant memory.
