Don Hutchison says someone should be sacked over Newcastle's failure to sign Austin

The life-long Newcastle fan and former Premier League midfielder is unimpressed with the club's pursuit of the Queens Park Rangers striker.

Former Sunderland and West Ham United midfielder Don Hutchison has once again expressed his dismay on Twitter that Newcastle United are yet to sign a new striker - Charlie Austin in particular.

Indeed, Hutchison, a life-long Newcastle fan who now works as a pundit on Premier League football, believes the individual in charge of getting signings across the line at St James' Park should be sacked for not getting the QPR man on board yet.

QPR's head of football operations Les Ferdinand recently confirmed Newcastle's interest in the 25-year-old striker, according to the Chronicle, but says the club are yet to have made a bid for Austin.

And Hutchison is incensed the Magpies have not yet completed a deal he believes should have been done weeks ago...

A lot of recent signs have pointed towards Austin staying at QPR ahead of next season, while Newcastle are reportedly in the market for Aleksandar Mitrovic or Bas Dost, as per the Chronicle.

The St James' Park outfit have also recently completed the signature of Georginio Wijnaldum. It is perhaps a case of whether their current rate of progress is good enough or whether they will rue those they haven't signed quickly enough...
