Everton and Stoke City kick off the Asia Trophy this morning as the two sides look to reach the final against either Arsenal or a Singapore select XI.
The two sides have impressive young managers in the form of Roberto Martinez and Mark Hughes and both men will know they could have very good Premier League campaigns if they hit the ground running come August.
In order to do that a good pre-season campaign will be vital and although this is a friendly match the fact that both sides will be competing against each other next season adds extra flavour to the proceedings.
Both Everton and Stoke have new players in their ranks already this summer and some of those are involved today.
Whatever happens here both sides will have another match in the competition, with a third/fourth place play-off also taking place, but for some early bragging rights, each will be hoping to outdo the other on foreign soil.
