Aston Villa could complete one of the signings of the summer in the next few days.
According to French news outlet Nice-Matin, Nice defender Jordan Amavi could join Aston Villa within the next few days. Reports suggest that the left-sided full-back has been convinced by the project 46-year-old manager Tim Sherwood is looking to implement at the Midlands-based club.
Amavi, previously a target for Arsenal, as per the Daily Mail, is believed to have needed convincing by Villa but the club grew increasingly confident that a transfer could be completed. Now, having had a bid accepted by Nice for the youngster, Sherwood has been able to agree personal terms which could see a move completed before the end of the week, say Nice-Matin.
The 21-year-old is very highly rated indeed and would represent some coup for Sherwood's ambitious side.
Amavi was superb last season, featuring on 36 occasions down the left-hand side for Nice. Impressively, he made the most interceptions in all of Europe (163) as well as ranking among the top 5 players in terms of tackles (140). Meanwhile, he also weighed in with 4 goals and 1.9 dribbles per game.
Currently a France Under-21 international, Amavi is expected to break into the senior squad ahead of next summer's European Championships, meaning he will be eager to hit the ground running upon arrival in the Premier League.
All factors considered, this could represent one of the signings of the summer window.
