The 20-year-old has been fully involved in the club’s Portuguese training camp and seems determined to try and make a big impression under manager Tim Sherwood, looking ahead to the new season.
“I have been around them for two years. But I feel more relaxed now. When I train with them now, I feel I belong. I don't feel like I'm the young one,” he told avfc.co.uk.
“I feel like I'm there for a reason now - I want to succeed here. I am determined to have a good pre-season and try to get myself into this first team.”
Could Sherwood take a gamble with Robinson?
Much could depend on what happens with regards to Christian Benteke’s future at Aston Villa, but there’s no reason Robinson can’t form part of the squad under Sherwood.
Initially, he may have to accept that he’s going to be more of an impact player coming off of the bench, rather than someone starting in every game.
However, he should sense a chance to impress and if he can make the most of any minutes he’s given in the Premier League by making a difference in terms of points, his chances of starting games will improve.
Approach to the rest of pre-season
It should be more of the same for the striker as far as pre-season is concerned.
All he can do is train extremely hard to try and show that he’s the quickest and sharpest attacking player in training.
He will feature in pre-season friendly games, which represents another chance for the player to cash in and make a real impression.
